So, all the usual Christmas events are more than likely cancelled due to coronavirus. However, we are still thankfully allowed to have our family over for the big day. You may be struggling to think of things to do to keep everyone entertained. However, if you’re lucky enough to be living in apartments north wales, then you’ll never be short of activities.
These are some ideas of things to do on Christmas Day or around the festive period in Conwy:
- Get your bobble hats on and for a walk.
There is nothing quite like embracing the cold air whilst keeping yourself snug. A good walk is a great way to spend time with the family, and you might need to burn off some steam after eating all the goodies. Locations that are suitable to people of most abilities include Aber Falls Nature Reserve, Gwydir Forest, Bryn Euryn, or if you’re after somewhere a little further afield, Cwm Idwal, and Llyn Brenig.
- Have a look at all of the Christmas lights.
Lots of the towns in North Wales have got a lovely display of lights. Llandudno’s Mostyn Street, for example, is lit up like a wonderland after dark. Rhos on Sea also has a tree of lights on top of the Cayley Bank, run by St. Davids Hospice – you can dedicate a light on the tree to remember a loved one.
- Enjoy the sunset with a hot drink.
One of the best things about living in North Wales is the gorgeous scenery. A simple but very rewarding activity is to find a pretty spot to watch the sun go down. With the addition of a hot drink in a flask, you’ll have a super comforting moment. Good lookout spots for sunset include Llandudno’s West Shore Beach and Great Orme, or the hills on the eastern side of Conwy Valley.
- Taste something from a Christmas menu.
Many pubs, eateries and restaurants Conwy are offering a fantastic discount or a tasty limited edition Christmas menu. If you’re a small household, you’ll be able to take advantage of this as the full group and enjoy an evening out together.
- Have your own Christmas bake-off.
If you don’t already have enough treats stocked up for the season, then it’s time to plan your very own Christmas bake-off with the family. Will you all compete to create the best festive showstopper, or try something a little different with a technical challenge? Just make sure no-one takes a Baked Alaska out the freezer before its set whatever you do!
