From its incredible landscape to its enticing restaurants Conwy is somewhere everyone can visit and enjoy themselves. The county has a broad range of activities to take part in, and is especially welcoming to those that love the outdoors and adventure. This list looks at just a few reasons why people come from far and wide to visit Conwy.

  1. The nature here is amazing.

The nature around Conwy County is just incredible. If you’re visiting a town, you only have to look up to see the peaks of beautiful mountains and rolling hills that are just around the corner.

Wherever you are, you’ll also not be far from the coast. Conwy is home to some beautiful harbours and beaches that fill you with a sense of tranquillity. Down the Conwy Valley is Betws-y-Coed, the gateway into Snowdonia and its endless mountain walks.

  1. The historic Welsh language.

It’s lovely to see the Welsh language still being spoken around Conwy. It is quite obviously a proudly bilingual area, with the language estimated at being 4,000 years old.

Welsh is commonly seen on road signs, around the towns and being spoken by locals. Coming to Conwy is a chance to learn a few words from the interesting Celtic language.

  1. The choice for adventure.

If you like adrenaline, then Conwy County is a fantastic place for you! In Llanrwst you can visit Zip World – home to the forest coaster, zip tree safari (a tree top obstacle course), and skyride (a giant swing sending you 80ft into the air).

Further down the Valley is Surf Snowdonia, the first artificial wave lagoon in the UK! But that’s not all, in Llandudno there is a dry ski slope, perfect for the extreme snow sport fans.

  1. The options for food and drink.

The bountiful land and sea in the area means that the food is nothing short of incredible. Lots of the restaurants around Conwy pride themselves on using locally sourced ingredients where possible. Conwy itself is known for its mussels that are beautifully fresh from the harbour.

Around the county is a number of distilleries and breweries such as Aber Falls Gin, and the Conwy Brewery. Their produce is not hard to come by in many of the local pubs!

  1. The fascinating history.

Conwy is the history-lovers dream. The medieval castle built by King Edward I at the end of the 13th Century is something to impress. This is right next to the stunning suspension bridge built by Thomas Telford in 1826.

The Victorian times are well kept in the seaside town of Llandudno, easily spotted at attractions such as the Great Orme Tramway.
