Over the past few weeks there have been a lot of changes on what we can and can’t do during our time in lockdown. With more of us being furloughed we are finding that we have a lot more time on our hands, with very little option on what we can do with it.
Although cycling in North Wales is still permitted, some of us simply don’t want to get out on their bike at this time. So we have put together some cycling-related things that you can do whilst at home.
Turbo trainers
A turbo trainer is a mount which you connect your bike to, so that you can ride whilst remaining stationary.
You may have seen popularity in turbo trainers rise over the last few months – we’ve certainly seen an ad or two on the TV. Turbo training is a great way to stay fit whilst enjoying something that you love to do. It gives you the ability to ride indoors and track your progress easily at a tap of an app.
Turbo training doesn’t need to be dull – mix it up a bit. Why not even move your turbo trainer outside so you can enjoy the sunshine whilst we have it.
Route planning
When things eventually get back to normal why don’t you plan some routes that you can try out. This will not only mix up your usual route it will also give you something to look forward to.
When we can finally be back together too you can even organise yourself a group ride.
Strengthen your core
Working on your core will eventually mean you will be better at riding. Your core helps you with balance – something every cyclist needs.
Whilst home workouts are now becoming the norm with gyms closed, work on a routine that will help keep your strength. Sit ups are good as well as planking.
Bike maintenance
Whilst your bike is out of action for the time being why not do those odd maintenance jobs you’ve never had time for? Or, you could always add some upgrades to your existing model ready for your next ride.
